Presidenti i Shteteve të Bashkuara, Donald Trump, tha se ka miratuar sulme ushtarake kundër Sirisë, në bashkëpunim me Mbretërinë e Bashkuar dhe Francën.
Sulmet janë në përgjigje të incidentit të dyshuar kimik, që ka ndodhur javën e kaluar në qytetin sirian, Duma.
“Një operacion i kombinuar me forcat e armatosura të Francës dhe Mbretërisë së Bashkuar është tani në zhvillim e sipër”, tha Trump në fjalimin drejtuar kombit.
Agjencitë e lajmeve Reuters dhe AFP njoftojnë se disa shpërthime të fuqishme janë dëgjuar në kryeqytetin e Sirisë, Damask, në kohën që presidenti Trump njoftoi fillimin e goditjes ushtarake. Presidenti Trump veçoi mbështetësit kryesorë të Sirisë, Rusinë dhe Iranin, që nuk e ndaluan regimin sirian të përdorte armë kimike.
